Employees exchange knowledge on the Digital Services Act

Employees of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media have held a meeting with employees from the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA) from Bosnia and Herzegovina on the subject of the Digital Services Act (DSA).

Within the Protocol of Cooperation signed between REM and the regulator from Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 28 March 2024 a meeting on the subject of the DSA was held, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of knowledge between the employees of the two regulators and discussing the role of regulators in the process of considering methods for the implementation of this act.

CRA representative Maida Ćulahović presented to REM employees the background and logic of regulation of online content and services, how the EU approach to this issue has changed, as well as the paradigms in regulation and the role of regulators. She devoted special attention to the topics of what the DSA is, to whom it applies and what obligations it brings.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to the system for monitoring and to the implementation of this European act, but also to its implications for freedom of expression and media. Lastly, Ćulahović spoke about ways of implementing this act in the member states, as well as the challenges in regulating this area, which need to be tackled by the countries in the region that are in the EU accession process.
