More than 350 child correspondents at RTV

Over 100 preschoolers visited Radio Television of Vojvodina during three days of the Media Literacy Open Days event, and more than 350 children are expected to visit this public media institution by the end of the week.

“It is a pleasure to be part of the Media with Wide Open Doors project in cooperation with REM, because in this way, we are raising awareness about media literacy among the youngest. In the first two days, RTV hosted more than 100 preschoolers, and we expect more than 350 child correspondents by the end of the project. Media Literacy Open Days are of great importance for RTV, because in this way, they enable children to develop critical thinking and responsible use of information, whereby we are creating the foundations for their media education and future,” said Goran Karadžić, the Director General of RTV.

Radio Television of Vojvodina is one of the media institutions that took part in the Media with Wide Open Doors campaign, as part of the celebration of the third Media Literacy Open Days, at the invitation of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media. Throughout the week, from 14 to 18 October, during this event, preschoolers from Novi Sad will have an opportunity to get to know the concept of work of this public media institution, find out about various occupations within the media company and the programme creation process.

In addition, the little ones will get to know the TV people who host RTV’s Good Morning, Vojvodina Morning Show, news show hosts, children's show hosts, and they will especially enjoy listening to the Great Folk Music and Great Tamburitza Orchestras rehearse. All three Radio Television of Vojvodina’s television studios, programme control room, news desk and music studio will also open their doors. At the end of the visit, children will have an opportunity to watch a preview of the new children's show called Uncle Keka’s Adventures.

In parallel with these visits, other groups of preschoolers visited the studios of Radio Television of Serbia, Naxi Radio, Prva TV and TV Panon. As part of this event, a special programme for preschoolers was organised by the PE Transmitters and Communications at the Avala Tower, where the children were also joined by amateur radio operators of Banjica.

This event, organised by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media for the third consecutive year, is a product of fruitful cooperation with the Council of Europe, which helped to organise it the previous two times. In addition, the Regulator developed, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, a number of materials suitable for working with preschoolers on this topic, and conducted an extensive survey.

Since the beginning of this year, the Regulator has held trainings for teachers and expert associates of preschool institutions in Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo, Čačak, and Subotica, which were attended by over 200 teachers and expert associates from Serbia.
