The third year of holding Media Literacy Open Days
This year as well, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media is organising Media Literacy Open Days for the third consecutive year, in the period from 14 to 18 October 2024.
As part of this year’s activities, a special campaign titled Media with Wide Open Doors has been organised, which is intended for preschoolers and aims to raise awareness about the way the media work and function.
The Regulator wishes to organise, in cooperation with public service broadcasters and media service providers in the territory of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Subotica, visits to media in which children will have an opportunity to enter the studios where the best-known shows are filmed, to peek into the world of journalism and the way television and radio news is made, as well as to try their hand at that role.
The Regulator’s campaign was joined by: Radio Television of Serbia, Radio Television of Vojvodina, Naxi Radio, Prva TV and TV Panon. As part of the same campaign, a special programme for preschoolers is organised by the PE Transmitters and Communications at the Avala Tower, where the children will also be joined by radio amateurs of Banjica.
The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media has organised, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, Media Literacy Open Days twice so far, developed a number of materials suitable for working with preschoolers on this topic (https://www.rem.rs/sr/dodatno/projekti/medijska-pismenost#gsc.tab=0), conducted an extensive survey on the said topic (https://www.rem.rs/uploads/files/Baners/HF42-media-literacy-survey-preschool-children-SRP.pdf).
Also since the beginning of this year, the Regulator has held trainings for teachers and expert associates of preschool institutions in Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo, and Čačak, which were attended by over 190 teachers and expert associates from Serbia.
