Announcement regarding the Day of Mourning of 2 November 2024
The Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted a decision to declare 2 November 2024 a Day of Mourning in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
Since the entry into force of the Law Amending the Law on Marking the Day of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 30/10), the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, as a task entrusted to it, oversees the implementation of provisions related to programmes of radio and television media service providers.
The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media instructs media service providers to broadcast the decision to declare the Day of Mourning during the provision of media services. During the Day of Mourning, instead of comedy, entertainment, forced environment reality, folklore and other content with popular and folk music, providers are instructed to broadcast music and programmes appropriate to the Day of Mourning and align the detailed programme schedule during the Day of Mourning.
On the occasion of the Day of Mourning, the Regulator will directly implement the provisions of the Law on Marking the Day of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, nos. 101/05 and 30/10).
In accordance with the provisions relating to the manner of marking the Day of Mourning, the Regulator recommends broadcasting artistic and instrumental music in the minor key.
