Cooperation at all levels as a prerequisite for a safe and reliable digital space
Regional cooperation of institutions and civil society organisations with online platforms is necessary in order to provide a safe and reliable digital space for all citizens, according to the conclusion of the Digital Safety Agenda for the Western Balkans regional workshop, in which the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media also participated.
At the invitation of the Communications Regulatory Agency from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives of REM participated in the plenary session Digital Literacy and Safety, from Legislative Framework to Practice and in the workshop TikTok Safety Policies and Tools, as part of the regional workshop Digital Safety Agenda for the Western Balkans, held in Sarajevo on 5 November.
The goal of the regional workshop, organised by colleagues from BiH in cooperation with TikTok, was to raise digital literacy and awareness about the safety of children, women and other vulnerable groups, exchange information and good practices among professionals, authorities and civil society organisations among the Western Balkans countries.
Panel participants also touched on topics unique to the entire region, such as misuse of artificial intelligence among children, increased harmful behaviour among children, online radicalisation, hate speech, online violence against women and cooperation with police regarding illegal content.
